Happy Halloween

I DID IT! And so many people doubted me...the pumpkins were carved, lit, and placed by the door. We actually did a pretty good job on the candy inventory too (gave enough of it away that we dipped a bit into the kids' supply...which they didn't seem to mind. Who gives Whoppers though??? I mean, do kids nowadays really eat Whoppers?) The beautiful part of Halloween this year was that Michael was very enthusiastic and excited to answer the door. Even Alex was eagerly chanting "Customers are here! Customers are here!" whenever the doorbell rang. The only problem was that Michael seemed to have some sort of third order differential equation in his head when it came to distributing the candy. He had to select each handful very carefully, making sure to give a well rounded variety of chocolate and that the quantity was equal...the poor trick-or-treaters were waiting minutes for what usually was a five second handout.

Eventually he just started inviting everyone in and telling them to pick their favorite out of the bowl. I wasn't too thrilled about that either, so we had to educate him on the acceptable Sherbrooke protocol on passing out the Halloween candy (They don't get to pick. They don't get to come into the house. It shouldn't take five minutes to hand out candy to three people.). I suppose it showed his generosity of heart...either that or he got lazy. Both are plausible.
